농어목 반딧불게르치과 Order Perciformes Family Acropomatidae(lanternbellies)

분포; 한국은 동해 남부, 일본 남부, 서태평양에서 아프리카 동부 인도양까지, 및 오스트렐리아 북부에 분포한다.
일반개요;약간 심해성 어류이다. 몸은 약간 길죽한 편이고 측편되었다. 비늘이 크며 쉽게 떨어져나가는 특성이 있다. 항문은 양 배지느러미 사이의 뒷쪽 복부에 있다. 목덜미에서부터 항문을 약간 넘어가는 위치에까지 복부 근육 속에 두 개의 발광기관이 있으며 두 개는 맨 앞에서 합쳐져 있다. 공생박테리아가 빛을 낸다. 몸은 적색을 띠며 복부 쪽은 은백색이다. 모래•펄 바닥에 산다.

Distribution: southeastern sea of Korea, southern Japan, west to East Africa, south to northern Australia, including the Arafura Sea.
General: bathydemersal, moderately deep sea species ranging 100~500m. Body slightly elongated oval shape, compressed. Scales large and deciduous. Two luminous organs run longitudinally in the abdominal muscle from the thorax to slightly beyond the anus and join each other at the anterior extremities. Anus before posterior tips of depressed pelvic fins. Black around anus. Inhabits sand and sandy mud bottoms.
