분포; 인도•태평양의 열대 해역에 분포한다.
일반개요; 머리의 이마 부분이 실전갱이 보다 더 튀어나오고 각이 졌다. 머리 앞면 외곽선이 직선이거나 약간 안쪽으로 곡선이다. 눈과 입 사이의 거리가 실전갱이 보다 길다. 어렸을 때 배지느러미도 실처럼 길게 연장되어 있다. 다른 모든 외형적 특징과 생태적 특징은 실전갱이와 동일하다.

Distribution: Indo-Pacific: Red Sea and East Africa to French Polynesia, north to southern Japan, south to the Arafura Sea and Australia.
General: Similar to Alectis ciliaris(above drawing) but has more angular head profile and wider space between eye and mouth. Dorsal contour of head before eye almost straight or slightly concave. Pelvic fins elongate in young. Other morphological and biological features almost same to Alectis ciliaris(above drawing).
