분포; 미국 플로리다, 멕시코 만, 브라질의 리우데자네이루, 서인도제도 전체에 걸쳐 분포한다.
일반개요; 은빛이다. 비늘들이 보는 각도에 따라 색깔이 변하면서 무지갯빛을 낸다. 체측에 가로 방향의 희미한 선들이 있다. 눈 아래에 청회색의 줄이 있거나 없거나 한다. 그 외에 다른 청색 무늬는 없다. 입가에 노랑색이나 오렌지 색은 없다. 가슴지느러미 기부 위쪽에 작은 검은 점이 있다. 물이 맑은 암초의 부드러운 바닥에 산다. 유어는 해초가 많은 곳에서 발견된다. 시장에서 식용어로 거래된다.

Distribution; Western Atlantic/Florida, USA and the northeastern Gulf of Mexico to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; throughout the West Indies
General; Silvery, the scales with iridescent reflections; usually a faint longitudinal banding on a body; a blue-gray line under eye present or absent; no other blue markings; no orange or yellow at corner of mouth; small black spot at upper base of pectoral fins. Found in clear reef areas over soft or semi-hard bottoms. Juveniles are encountered in seagrass(Thalassia) beds. Marketed fresh and frozen.
