꽃자리(Pink maomao)

D/spine10, soft ray19~21, A/spine3, soft ray8, P₁/soft ray15~16.
분포; 한국의 제주도, 일본 남부, 서태평양, 인도양, 동태평양 남부에 분포.
일반개요; 몸과 머리는 측편되었고 암수 모두 꼬리지느러미의 가장자리가 안으로 오목하다. 아가미뚜껑에 3개의 가시가 있다. 등지느러미 아래에 몇 개의 불완전한 반문이 있다. 옆줄이 미완성형으로 등지느러미 연조부의 중간에서 끊어진다. 연안의 암초에 서식하며 플랑크톤과 작은 유영동물을 잡아먹는다. 맛 좋은 식용어로 대접 받는다.
※ 이 꽃자리 그림은 한국어도보(1977, 정문기)를 참고한 것이다. 다른 검색에서 찾아지는 영상 자료들은 상태가 불량하거나 유사 종으로 보이는 영상을 제시하고 있어서 종의 정확성을 담보할 수 없었다. 이 그림은 암컷이다. 꽃자리는 붉벤자리(Caprodon schlegelii)와 매우 유사하게 생겼으므로 꽃자리의 수컷은 붉벤자리의 수컷 그림을 참고하기 바란다.

Distribution: Jeju Island of Korea, southern Japan, Indo-West Pacific, Southeast Pacific.
General: Depressed body and head. Lateral line incomplete, reaching middle of soft-rayed portion of dorsal fin. Monochromatic orange-red or dark shades dorsally. Continuous rays of the dorsal fin. A caudal fin with concave margin. Opercle wit 3 spines. Occurs inshore near reefs. Feed on plankton and small nekton. Make excellent eating.
※Drawings or photographs of this species(Caprodon longimanus) in several sources are all different each other and damaged images, so this drawing could be incorrect. “Caprodon longimanus” is very similar to “Caprodon schlegelii”.
