분포; 인도•서태평양: 한국의 남해, 일본 홋카이도 이남, 남중국해, 베트남, 피지에 분포하며 홍해와 페르시아만에서는 발견되지 않음.
일반개요; 어렸을 때 등지느러미 극조부 아래에 검정색 반원 무늬를 중심으로하여 약 4개의 동심원적인 굵은 검은선과 흰선의 교차 무늬가 있으며 무늬들은 성장하면서 선과 점으로 축소되다가 노성어가 되면 거의 모두 없어진다. 연안의 얕은 수심과 깊은 수심의 암초지역에 서식한다. 대체적으로 깊은 수심에 산다.

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Southern Korea, southern Japan, South China Sea, Viet Nam and Fiji. Unknown from the Red Sea and Persian Gulf.
General: Black concentric circle markings on body becoming indistinct with growth. Inhabits rocky reefs of coastal shallow and deep waters, generally found in deep water of 45~375m depth.
