분포; 서태평양/한국의 남해, 일본 남부, 중국해, 필리핀 북부에 분포.
일반개요; 등지느러미의 제3, 제4 극조가 실처럼 연장되었다. 아가미막의 진한 적색 부분이 실붉돔보다 작다. 수심 0~100m 범위의 저층에 산다. 어린 개체들은 내만 얕은 수심에 있다. 몸색은 적색이며 배쪽으로는 밝다. 살아있을 때 비늘열을 따라 여러 개의 녹청색(또는 청색) 끊어진 점선 무늬들이 있다.

Distribution: Western Pacific: South Sea of Korea, southern Japan, East and South China seas and the northern part of the Philippines.
General: 3rd and 4th dorsal spines distinctly elongated into filament. Bright red region on gill membrane smaler than Argyrops bleekeril. Red in body color, pale below. Bluish(or greenish blue) lateral lines of discontinuity along the scale lines when alive. Depth range 0~100, wide range of bottom types. Small individuals are common at some localities in shallow sheltered bays.
