Family Dinematichthyidae(Viviparous brotula) Family Dinematichthyidae(Viviparous brotula) had been a group of species in the family Bythitidae (Livebearing brotulas) and recently divided into a new family. Although it has not yet been widely applied in academia, it is assumed that it will become generalized over time. The English common name of both family is “Livebearing brotulas” and “Viviparous brotula” respectively. The meaning of two terms is the same. It means direct pregnancy without laying eggs; “viviparous” is just a technical term. Because this family recently created, comprehensive explanation for Dinematichthyidae is not available in internet world. Only a list of genera and species is published. However, since there are many similarities with Bythitidae, it will be helpful to understand the Dinematichthyidae by referring to explanations of Bythitidae.
