신락상어과/Family Hexanchidae(cow sharks)
세계에 3속 4종이 알려져 있다. 대서양, 인도양 태평양의 온대~열대 해역에 분포한다. 아가미구멍이 6개 또는 7개이다. 등지느러미는 1개이다. 꼬리지느러미에는 깊게 패인 각이 있다. 난태생이다. 다른 상어를 포함해 각종 물고기, 갑각류, 사체도 먹는다. 크기는 140~480cm이다. 칠성상어(Notorynchus cepedianus)를 제외하고는 모두 심해성이다. 최대 1875m 수심까지 분포한다.

3 genera, 4 species in the world, 2 genera 2 species in Korea. Marine, temperate to tropical, continental and insular shelves and slopes at least 1875m depth, circumglobal in Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific. Six or seven gill openings. Deepwater species except Notorynchus cepedianus. One dorsal fin, caudal fin with strong subterminal notch. Ovoviviparous. Feed on  other sharks, fishes, crustaceans and carrion. Size range from 140 to 480cm(TL). Hexa = six.
