분포; 인도-태평양/팔라우, 파푸아뉴기니, 솔로몬 제도, 인도네시아 북부, 필리핀, 오키나와에 분포.
일반개요; 18~80m 수심의 모래, 자갈 바닥에 서식하며 단독 또는 소수가 무리를 짓는다. 위험을 느끼면 즉시 모래 속으로 숨는다. 머리에서부터 꼬리지느러미 끝까지 진한 적색 띠무늬가 있으며 죽은 개체는 검은 줄무늬로 변한다.

Distribution: Indo-Pacific/Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Palau, northern Indonesia, Phillippines, and Okinawa Islands.
General: White with vivid arching red stripe from head to posterior end of caudal fin when alive(dark stripe in spirits). Caudal fin shallowly forked. Solitary or form small groups. Shy, retreat to sandy burrow when threatened. Sand and rubble slopes of seaward reefs in 18~80m.
