Distribution; North Pacific/subtropical and temperate waters of North Pacific. See distribution map. General; In 2017, the National Institute of Fisheries Science(Korea) collected 23 unrecorded young specimens from the south seas and Jeju Island, and Nannobrachium fernae is one of them. It is not yet known whether the Korean name has been decided or not. No global common name found. In the published list, the scientific name of this species is “Nannobrachium fernae”, which is in conflict with “Lampanyctus fernae”. In Fishbase.org, there is no genus name of “Nannobrachium” in species list of Family Myctophidae but all are listed in genus “Lampanyctus”. In Fishbase. org, the scientific name of the North Pacific Lanternfish is “Lampanyctus fernae”. However, in other research institutes, the scientific name is Nannobrachium fernae. The two scientific names are in synonym relation and the original name is Lampanyctus fernae. It seems that new official Korean name of this species has not been decided yet, and there is no English common name or global name. The Chinese name is 北太平洋珍燈魚 equivalent to “North Pacific Lanternfish”, and the author arbitrarily decided to use the Chinese name(North Pacific Lanternfish) as Korean name. Ecological and behavioral information on this species is not available.
