| 검은잉어 기본 모습 lateral view of Black carp(Mylopharyngodon piceus) |
[Freshwater fish] Distribution; Asia/Amur river basin to southern China. Reported from Vietnam. Persists only in Europe by stocking or accidental releases; native stocks in Russia have declined sharply. Several countries reported adverse ecological impact after introduction. The black carp closely resembles the grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella. The two species are similar in overall body shape, size and placement of fins. Both black carp and grass carp have very large scales. In contrast to grass carp, the black carp is darker in coloration(some specimen almost black). Commercial fishers in Louisiana have noted that black carp also have a somewhat pointed snout, a character they find useful in distinguishing it from grass carp. Juveniles and larvae may be difficult to distinguish from those of grass carp. Adults inhabit large lowland rivers and lakes, preferably with clear water and high oxygen concentrations. Larvae feed on zooplankton, then on ostracods and aquatic insects. At about 120 mm SL, juveniles start to prey on small snails and clams while larger juveniles and adults feed almost entirely on molluscs. Undertake upriver migration in spring - early summer; and spawning takes place in turbulent waters. Deposit pelagic or semipelagic eggs which hatch while drifting downstream. Larvae settle into floodplain lakes and channels with little or no current. Maximum age probably exceeds 15 years; the figure of 20 years is not supported by data. Black carp, together with bighead, silver, and grass carps, make up the culturally important "four famous domestic fishes" used in polyculture in China for over a thousand years. Black carp are not as widely distributed worldwide as the other three. In China, black carp are the most highly esteemed and expensive foodfish among the four domestic fishes, and partly because of its diet and limited food supply, is the most scarce and expensive in the marketplace. It is widely cultivated for food and Chinese medicine. The nature of the black carp's diet has led to its use in the United States in the control of snails in aquaculture. Snails are obligate alternate hosts of trematode pests that can cause substantial losses to aquaculture crops. Some state aquaculture laws require the carp to be bred as triploids, to render them sterile, thus minimizing the potential for the fish to escape and create self-sustaining populations. No state allows the intentional release of black carp, sterile or otherwise. Two diploid fingerlings were captured in Missouri's boot heel in 2015, confirming natural reproduction of this species in the wild. Black carp are considered to be a serious threat to mollusks native to the United States, many of which are critically endangered. In 2007, the black carp was listed as an "injurious species" under the Lacey Act. It is thus illegal in most cases to transport live black carp, whether sterile or fertile, into the United States or across state lines. In states where legal, black carp can still be possessed. |
