분포; 서태평양/한국의 동해 남부와 제주도, 일본 남부, 타이완, 중국해, 오스트렐리아 북서부, 아라푸라 해에 분포.
일반개요; 몸은 선홍색 또는 분홍색 바탕. 체측에 6개의 폭이 좁은 수평 방향의 노랑색 선이 있다. 등지느러미와 뒷지느러미에 2개 씩의 폭이 좁은 노랑색 평행선이 있다. 배지느러미에도 2개의 노랑색 기조가 있다. 입술이 노랗고 윗입술에서부터 눈까지 노랑색 선이 있다. 꼬리지느러미의 가장 위쪽 기조는 실 모양으로 길게 연장되었고 색이 노랗다. 뺨에도 2개의 노랑색 선이 나타날 때가 있다. 측선 기점 바로 아래에 빨간 점무늬가 있다. 보통 18~33m 수심에 있으며 최대 220m 이상 수심에서도 발견된다. 모래, 개펄 바닥에 서식하며 갑각류, 물고기, 두족류를 주식한다.

Distribution: Western Pacific/south-eastern waters and Jeju Island in Korea, southern Japan, Taiwan, East and South China Seas, northwestern Australia and Arafura Sea.
General: Body color light red or pink, with 6 yellow thin stripes on sides, pair of thin yellow stripes on dorsal and anal fins. Bright yellow lips, with a yellow stripe from upper lip extending to margin of eye. Pelvic fin with two yellow soft rays. Upper first ray of caudal fin yellow and form a trailing filament. Origin of lateral line with red spot when alive. Two faint yellow bars across cheek sometimes present. Inhabits muddy or sandy bottoms. Usually 18~33m, and at least 220m. Feeds on crustaceans, fish and cephalopods.
