분포; 서북태평양/한국의 서해와 남해, 일본 남부, 동중국해, 남중국해에 분포.
일반개요; 죽은 개체는 등이 회색 배는 흰색을 띤다. 살아있을 때 등은 등황색, 아래쪽은 옅은 노란색이다. 지느러미들은 노란색이며 등지느러미와 꼬리지느러미는 어두운 노란색이다. 복부를 제외한 윗쪽에 비늘열을 따라 사선으로 어두운 점들이 있다. 주둥이 끝은 둥글고 윗턱보다 아래턱이 짧다. 수심 20~80m의 개펄, 모래 바닥의 저층부에서 생활하며 산란기는 4~7월이다.

Distribution: Northwest Pacific/Western and southern waters in Korea, southern Japan, East and South China Seas.
General: Grey dorsally and whitish ventrally in spirits. Yellowish when alive. Oblique rows of dark dots above abdomen. Snout tip rounded, lower jaw shorter than upper jaw. Muddy bottoms or muddy-sandy bottoms from 25 to 80m depth. Spawn April~July.
