분포; 서북태평양/대만과 한국. 데이터 부족.
일반개요; 데이터 부족. 대만에서 채집된 모식종으로 알려진 종이다. 아열대성이다. 인터넷 검색에서 2020년 3월 6일 발표한 해양수산부 보도자료 제목 “국립수산과학원, 국내 미기록 어린물고기 23종 발견” 명단이 있는데 명단 중 하나에 종명 Ophichthus brevicaudatus 만 포함되어 있고 관련 설명은 없다. 한국명 “짧은꼬리물뱀”은 필자가 중국명 “短尾蛇鰻”에서 따온 임시명이다.

Distribution; Northwest Pacific/Taiwan and Korea. Data deficient.
General; It is a marine, subtropical eel which is known from its type locality in the Taiwan Strait, in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. Data deficient. The English common name “Short-tailed snake eel” is a temporary name that the author took from the Chinese name “短尾蛇鰻”.
