※국내 기록은 학명이 Apogon notatus이지만 FishBase.org의 업데이트 자료를 근거로 학명을 “Ostorhinchus notatus”로 변경하여 소개함.
분포; 서태평양: 한국의 제주도, 일본 중부 이남, 타이완, 필리핀, 인도네시아, 오스트렐리아의 대보초에 분포한다.
일반개요; 몸과 머리는 측편되었다. 체색은 자주빛이 감도는 적갈색이며 아랫턱 끝부분을 포함하여 주둥이 끝에서부터 눈의 끝까지 검은 줄이 있으며 그 뒤로는 띠의 흔적만 희미하게 보인다. 제2등지느러미 기부에도 검은 줄무늬가 있다. 제1등지느러미의 상단부가 검다. 목덜미(어깨) 양쪽에 흑색 점이 1개씩 있다. 미병부 후단에 동공 크기의 흑색 안점이 있으며 이 점은 꼬리지느러미의 기부에까지 닿지 않는다. 8~45m 수심 범위의 암초 지대에 서식하며 무리를 지어 산다. 수컷이 구강포란하여 알을 부화시킨다. 야행성이다.

Distribution: Jeju Island in Korea, south of central Japan, Taiwan, Philippnes, Indonesia and Great Barrier Reef.
General: Body and head compressed. Purplish brown, black stripe from the tip of lower jaw through eye and another on base of 2nd dorsal fin, pair of black spots on nape. Upper part of 1st dorsal fin dark. Black spot on posterior part of peduncle, the spot equal to pupil. Form aggregations. Coastal, lagoon and seaward reefs in 8~45m. Mouthbrooding is done by the male parents. Nocturnal species.
