분포; 인도•서태평양/한국의 서해와 남해, 일본 남부, 남중국해, 아라비아해에 분포.
일반개요; 몸과 머리는 측편되었다. 몸은 청회색 바탕이며 등지느러미와 꼬리지느러미는 회갈색일 수도 있고 그림보다 더 밝은 노란색일 수도 있다. 가슴지느러미, 배지느러미, 뒷지느러미는 검다. 너비가 넓고 휘어진 3개의 검은 띠무늬(약간의 보라색이 섞인 색)가 있으며 두 번째 무늬를 포함한 등쪽과 등지느러미 및 꼬리지느러미에 흑색점들이 있다. 흑색점들은 나이가 들수록 크기는 작고 수는 많아진다. 연안 암초지대에 살며 갑각류를 주로 먹는다.

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific/Southern and western waters of Korea, southern Japan, south China Sea, and Arabian Sea.
General: Body and head compressed. Slightly bluish grey in body color with three dark(slightly magenta tinted) skewbands. Black spots dorsally above and including the second band. Dorsal and caudal fins grey or yellowish grey or yellow. The black spots smaller and more numerous in old adults. Pelvic, Pectoral and anal fins blackish. Inhabits coastal reefs, near rocky and coral areas.
