분포; 인도•태평양/한국의 중부 이남 남부 연안, 일본 남부, 서태평양, 인도양에 분포.
일반개요; 가슴지느러미는 두 부분으로 나뉘고 아래쪽 실 모양 연조는 5개이며 백색이고 위 가슴지느러미는 후반부가 검으며 기조들은 분기되지 않았다. 꼬리지느러미는 크고 안으로 깊게 패였다. 몸색은 녹갈색, 배쪽은 은백색이며 위는 청회색 또는 비늘열을 따라 좁은 선들이 수평으로 그어져 있는데 측선 위의 7~8개 선은 뚜렷한 검회색이며 측선 아래의 7~9개의 선들은 희미하다. 수심 122m 이내의 내만의 모래, 개펄 바닥에 서식하며 기수역에도 들어간다. 작은 물고기, 갑각류, 기타 저서 동물을 먹는다.

Distribution: Indo-Pacific/southern Korea, southern Japan, western Pacific and Indian Ocean.
General: Divided pectoral fin with lower part containing 5 white free filamentous rays. Caudal fin large and deeply forked. Dusky olive brown or blue grey above silvery white below. Body with 7~8 narrow gray stripes above lateral line and 7~9 faint stripes below. Pectoral rays unbranched, and blackish except basally. Occur over sandy or muddy bottoms from estuaries to coastal beaches to relatively deep waters (less than 122m). Feeds on small crustaceans, fishes and other benthic organisms.
