분포; 한국의 남해, 일본 남부, 남중국해, 인도네시아, 오스트렐리아 북부, 홍해, 남아프리카에 분포한다.
일반개요; 아가미뚜껑에 2개의 가시가 있다. 비늘마다 미소한 가시가 있다. 얕은 수심에도 나타나지만 주로 80m 이상 깊은 곳의 암초지대에 서식한다. 얕은 수심에는 주로 어린 개체가 나타난다. 알은 중층에 떠서 낳는다.

Distribution: Southern Korea and Japan, South China Sea, Indonesia, northern Australia, Red Sea, South Africa.
General: Two small spines on operculum. Body scales margined with many minute spines. From 80 to 200m depth. Juveniles found on the shallow rocky reefs. Eggs are pelagic.
