분포; 서북태평양/한국의 남해, 일본 남부, 타이완에 분포한다.
일반개요; 몸과 머리는 측편되었다. 수컷은 성장한 암컷 중에서 변이하여 나온다. 암컷은 노랑색과 붉은색이 섞여있으며 수컷은 붉은색 비중이 커지고 지느러미들과 배쪽에 복숭아색 또는 보라색이 나타나며 등지느러미의 제3 극조가 길게 연장되어 화려해진다. 수심 30m 범위의 암초에 서식한다.

Distribution: Northwest pacific: southern Korea, southern Japan and Taiwan.
General: Compressed head and body. Hermaphrodites that commence maturity as females then change sex to males later in life. Yellow ground color with red wavy pattern. Red color dominant in males. Male with elongated 3rd spine in dorsal fin. Rocky reefs deeper than 30m depth.
