분포; 인도•태평양/한국의 제주도, 일본 남부, 서태평양, 프렌치 폴리네시아, 오스트렐리아, 피지, 동아프리카에 분포.
일반개요; 등에 3개의 황갈색 줄무늬와 3개의 파란색 줄무늬가 교대하는 수평무늬가 주둥이 끝에서부터 미병부 끝까지 그어져 있다. 맨 위의 선 무늬는 가늘고 등의 중심부에 있어서 보는 각도에 따라 안보일 수도 있다. 꼬리지느러미 양엽 끝에 새까만 점 무늬가 있다. 배쪽으로는 은백색이다. 그러나 어두워지거나 야간에는 전체적으로 붉은색이 된다. 등지느러미와 뒷지느러미에 비늘이 있다. 미병부 측선 위의 비늘 열은 11줄이고 측선 아래는 대개 15줄이다. 산호초 주변에서 무리로 헤엄치며 산다. 다른 종의 푸질리어들과 섞여서 헤엄칠 때가 많다. 동물플랑크톤을 먹는다. 난생이며 알은 중층에 산란한다.

Distribution: Indo-Pacific/Jeju Island in Korea, southern Japan, western Pacific, French Polynesia, Australia, Fiji, and East Africa.
General: Silvery, three yellowish to brownish stripes alternate with three bluish stripes on back, black tail tips, scaled dorsal and anal fins, Upper peduncular scale rows usually 11, lower usually 15. Change their typical open water colors to reddish brown shades when they associates with reefs for sanctuary or to sleep at night. Form aggregations, often with othe fusiliers. Ranges widely around coral reefs. Feeds on zooplankton, oviparous, with small pelagic eggs.
