체크 리스트
1.  색상은 변화가 있음으로 색상은 종을 구별하는데 도움이 되지 않는다.
2. 몸 길이와 높이를 비교해 볼 것.
3. 눈 위의 촉수(돌기) 길이를 비교해 본다.
4. 아가미뚜껑 가장자리와 가슴지느러미 기부 사이 공간에 아무런 무늬가 없다(※ 쏠배감펭).   
5. 등지느러미 연조부의 기조, 꼬리지느러미의 기조, 뒷지느러미 기조, 이 곳 모두에 수많은 흑색 점이 있는지 없는지를 관찰한다.
6. 등지느러미의 가시 기조 길이가 다른 종들에 비해서 짧은지 긴지를 관찰한다.
7. 배지느러미에 백색 점 무늬가 있는지 관찰한다(※ 복기흰점쏠배감펭, 점쏠배감펭).
8. 가슴지느러미 기부 바로 위 몸에 백색 점이 있다(※ 점쏠배감펭).
9. 가슴지느러미의 길이를 관찰한다(점쏠배감펭이 가장 길다).
10. 가슴지느러미의 기조(살)와 막의 연결 상태를 관찰한다. 
11. 가슴지느러미의 막 모양은 긴수염쏠배감펭이 가장 독특하다.
12. “(F)추가 참고종”은 Dendrochirus 속의 종들로서 본연의 라이온피시(lionfish) 속(genus Pterois)의 종들은 아니다. 그러나 그들의 이름에 쏠배감펭 또는 “lionfish” 가 인용되는 경우가 있다.

Checklist
1. Color is not helpful in distinguishing species because it varies.
2. Compare body length and height.
3. Compare the length of the tentacle(protrusions) above the eye.
4. Observe the presence or absence of numerous black spots in all rays of soft dorsal fin, caudal fin, and anal fin.
5. Observe whether the length of the dorsal fin spines are shorter or longer than other congeners.
6. Observe whether there are white spots on the pelvic fin(※ Pterois russelii and Pterois volitans).
7. A white spot on the body just above the base of the pectoral fin(※ Pterois volitans).
8. No pattern in the space between the gill cover edge and the base of the pectoral fin (※ Pterois lunulata)
9. Observe the length of the pectoral fin(※ Pterois volitans is the longest).
10. Observe the connection between the pectoral fin spines and the membranes.
11. The membrane shape of the pectoral fin is the most unique in Pterois antennata.
12 “(F) Additional reference species” are species of the genus Dendrochirus, they are not species of the original lionfish genus Pterois. However, there are cases where the word "lionfish" or "ssol-bae-gam-peng(Korean version)" are cited in their names.
