Rhynchocypris lagowskii(Dybowski, 1869). 24 cm TL(male), 13.5 cm TL(female)
Korean name/beo-deul-pi-ri(버들피리)
Dorsal spines 3, Dorsal soft rays 7. Anal spines 3, Anal soft rays 6~7. LL/82-95. Vert/37-39. Gill raker/7~9

Peduncle relatively shallow in depth. Lateral line complete and almost straight but slightly arcing down an up in anterior portion. Margin of caudal fin emarginated deeper than the “Korean minnow”, and both lobes moderately pointed. Scales are smallest among Genus Rhynchocypris.

※ This fish had been classified for long time as Korean minnow(Rhynchocypris oxyrhynchus). Recently, it is found that Amur minnows(Rhynchocypris lagowskii) are erroneously included in population of Korean minnows. The specimens inhabit streams flow to west coasts of peninsula are all identified as Amur minnows, whereas only the population live in streams flow to east coasts are Korean minnow(Rhynchocypris oxyrhynchus). As a result, new Korean name “beo-deul-pi-ri(버들피리)” designated to the Rhynchocypris lagowskii.
