분포; 동대서양/브리티쉬 아일스(British Isles), 프랑스, 남아프리카, 마데이라, 카나리아 군도 및 지중해에 분포한다.
일반 개요;
이 종은 다음 2종과 외관이 거의 동일해서 구분하기 어렵다.

 ⊙내로우핀 스무스하운드(Narrowfin smooth-hound; Mustelus norrisi )

등쪽이 회색이거나 회갈색이다. 배는 희다. 조간대에서부터 350~620m 깊은 수심에 걸쳐 저서생활을 한다. 중층에서 헤엄쳐 다닐 때도 있다. 갑각류를 주식하면서 물고기도 먹는다. 태생이다. 70~80cm에서 성적으로 성숙된다. 식용으로 이용된다.

Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: British Isles, France to South Africa, including Medeterranean, Madeira, Canary Islands.
General: Has confusing morph with Dusky smooth-hound(Mustelus canis ) and Narrowfin smooth-hound(Mustelus norrisi ). Often referred to as Mustelus canis which is restricted to the western Atlantic. Found on bottoms between shallow intertidal zone to 350~620m depth. Sometimes in midwater. Uniformly grey or greyish-brown above, white below.  Feeds on crustaceans, cephalopods and bony fishes. Viviparous. Sexual maturity at a length of 70~80cm. Utilized for human consumption.
