다니오닌아과 Subfamily Danioninae.
작은 종들의 집단이다. 대부분 다니오 속(genus Danio), 데바리오 속(genus Devario),  라스보라 속(genus Rasbora)의 종들이다. 세계에서 가장 작은 척추동물 기록에 올랐다가 초미니 개구리(Paedophryne amanuensis)에게 챔피온쉽을 빼앗긴 패도키프리스 속(Paedocypris)도 본 아과에 속한다. 그러나 패도키프리스 속 3종을 따로 떼어내 과로 승격시킨 Family Paedocyprididae(Tiny carps; 초미니잉어과)가 사용되기도 한다. 민물고기이며 남 아시아와 동남아시아에 분포하며 아프리카에 일부가 산다. 밝은 색을 가진 종들이 많으며 전세계적으로 관상어 시장에서 구입할 수 있다. 다니오 속은 몸에 수평으로 놓인 줄무늬들이 있거나, 점들이 열을 지어 있거나, 또는 수직 띠 무늬를 가지고 있는 경향이 있으며 긴 수염을 가진 것들이 자주 있다. 데바리오 속은 수직 또는 수평 띠 무늬를 가지는 경향이 있고 수염이 없거나 있으면 짧은 흔적적인 수염이다. 다니오닌 아과 종들은 알을 흩뜨려 낳으며 우기에 산란한다. 육식성이며 곤충과 작은 갑각류를 잡아먹는다.

Subfamily Danioninae.
The danionins are a group of small minnow-type fish belonging to the family Cyprinidae. Members of this group are mostly in the genus Danio, Devario and Rasbora. The genus Paedocypris, which held the world's smallest vertebrate record but lost the championship to the tiny frog(Paedophryne amanuensis), also belongs to this subfamily Danioninae. However, the new Family Paedocyprididae(Tiny carps) is sometimes used, in which three species of the genus Paedocypris are moved in. They are primarily native to the fresh waters of South and Southeast Asia, with fewer species in Africa. Many species are brightly coloured and are available as aquarium fish worldwide. Danio species tend to have horizontal stripes, rows of spots, or vertical bars, and often have long barbels. Devario species tend to have vertical or horizontal bars, and short rudimentary barbels, if barbels are present at all. All danionins are egg scatterers and breed in the rainy season in the wild. They are carnivores living on insects and small crustaceans.
