분포; 서인도양: 탄자니아에서부터 남아프리카의 캐이프타운 동부 해역에 분포.
일반개요; 보통 60~300m 범위 대륙붕 바닥에서 발견된다. 가슴지느러미가 크고 둥근 머리와 분리되어 있다. 등은 갈색 배는 흰색이며 등에 밝은 점들이 그물망처럼 산재한다. 경골어류, 오징어, 문어를 먹는다. 난태생. 가끔 해변 낚시에 걸려 나온다.

Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: tropical and warm temperate waters from Tanzania to the eastern Cape coast of South Africa.
General: Large pectoral fin separated from round head. Brown above with a reticulated pattern of light spots, white below. Depth range usually 60~300m. Feeds on bony fish, squid and octopus. Ovoviviparous. Sometimes caught by surf anglers.
