D/spines 2, soft rays 39-40, A/spines 1-2, soft rays 29–31, LL/81-85.

분포; 서북태평양/한국은 강원도 중부 이북(고성), 일본북부, 쿠릴열도, 피터대제 만, 오호츠크해에 분포한다.
일반개요; 생태나 외형에 관한 데이터가 매우 부족한 종이다. 몸이 길고 체고가 낮다. 전체적으로 황갈색이며 어두운 청색 반점들과 검은 갈색 점들이 불규칙적으로 흩어져있다. 아가미뚜껑 위에 눈 크기의 큰 점이 있으며 이 점은 살아있을 때는 청색이며 죽으면 검은 색이 된다. 등지느러미는 아가미구멍 위에서 시작되어 꼬리지느러미 직전까지 이어진다. 뒷지느러미는 대략 몸의 앞 쪽 3분의 1 위치에서 시작되어 꼬리지느러미 직전까지 이어진다. 꼬리지느러미는 밖으로 둥글다. 측선은 아가미뚜껑 위에서 시작되어 등의 상부에서 직선으로 등지느러미 기부 끝까지 이어진다. 측선 비늘 수는 81-85이다. 바위 지대에 서식한다. 발견되는 수심은 0 - 65m.

Distribution; Northwest Pacific/north of central east of Korean peninsula, north Japan, Kuril Islands and Tartar Strait to Peter the Great Bay,
General; A data deficient species. Inhabits rocky shore areas. With depth range of 0 - 65 m. Resemble B. leurolepis but easily distinguished by a distinct dark(blue when fresh) blotch on the operculum, and a smaller number of lateral line scales. Attains about 18 cm SL. Elongated body with low depth. Dorsal fin begins from operculum edge and ends just before the caudal fin. Anal fin starts from anterior 1/3 point of the body and ends just before the caudal fin. Lateral line, running high on body and nearly straight to end of dorsal fin, with 81-85 scales. Yellowish brown  color overall with many small dark brown spots on head and body. With dark blue blotches on body, dorsal and anal fins
