분포; 인도-서태평양/남중국해, 필리핀, 벵갈만, 태즈먼 해(Tasman Sea), 소말리아, 남아프리카에 분포.
일반개요; 수심 200~549 m 에 사는 심해 어종이다. 몸에 흐릿한 점들이 있고 꼬리지느러미 기부 쪽 위 기조 위에 검은 점이 하나 있다. 비늘들의 가장자리가 검다. 제1등지느러미는 어둡거나 흑색이거나 또는  후단 가장자리가 검다. 외해 저인망 수심 바닥에 산다. ※ fishbase.org의 설명을 가져온 것인데 색상에 관한 설명을 뒷받침할 만한 근거가 발견되지 않는다.

Distribution; Indo-West Pacific: including the Bay of Bengal, the South China Sea, the Philippine Sea, the Tasman Sea, and off the coast of Somalia and South Africa.
General; Depth range 200 - 549 m. Vague dusky spots along body, 1 on caudal fin at base of upper rays; scales edged with black; 1st dorsal fin dusky to black in color. Distal margin of first dorsal fin darkish. Usually 5 scale rows between lateral line and origin of anal fin. Inhabits offshore trawling grounds. ※ Above descriptions about color is uncertain.
