분포; 서북태평양: 한반도 전 연안, 일본 홋카이도 이남, 동중국해, 타이완에 분포한다.
일반개요; 두 눈은 머리의 오른쪽에 몰려있다. 입이 크다. 유안측 측선의 위와 아래에 각각 3개 씩의 둥근 점이 짝을 이루고 있다. 꼬리지느러미의 뒤 가장자리는 낮은 삼각형을 이룬다. 수심 200m 이내의 모래, 개펄 바닥에 서식하며 저서동물을 잡아 먹는다. 봄에 동해에서 산란한다.

Distribution: All around coasts of Korean Peninsula, Yellow Sea, south of Hokkaido/Japan, East China Sea, Taiwan.
General: Eyes on right side of head. Big mouth. 3 pairs of round spots above and below lateral line on ocular side of body. Caudal fin double truncated. Found in the sublittoral zone, above 200m on sandy mud bottoms. Feeds on benthic animals. Cultured in Japan or Korea. Mates in spring in east coasts of Korea.
