농어목 비늘베도라치과 Family Labrisomidae(Labrisomids, 라브리소미드)...Family 449

Nelson의 최신 판(2006년 제4판) “FISHES of the WORLD”에는 neoclinus bryope(한국명;비늘베도라치)가 “Family Chaenopsidae”로 재 분류되어 있으며 다른 세계적인 사이트들도 이에 따라 모두 수정하였다.

그래서 비늘이 있는 베도라치 무리인 Labrisomidae(비늘베도라치과)에서 쫓겨난 것이다.

Family Labrisomidae; Labrisomids
※ Labrisomid; Any member of the Labrisomidae

Distribute in Atlantic and Pacific. Mainly tropical. The family contains about 120 species in 16 genera. Stockier than the average blenny. Pelvic fins are long and slender. Cycloid scales, never small and imbedded. The two scaleless genera((Stathmonotus, Neoclinus) are moved to family Chaenopsidae(J.S. Nelson, “FISHES of the WORLD”, 2006. 4th edition). Dorsal fin with more spines than soft-rays; some species . Like many other blennies, labrisomids have whisker-like structures called cirri on their heads and napes. Some species with only a spinous dorsal fin. Many species are brightly coloured. The hairy blenny (Labrisomus nuchipinnis) is the largest species at 23 cm in length; most are far smaller. Two genera of labrisomid are noted for their ovoviviparity; Xenomedea and Starksia both retain eggs within their oviducts, where they develop in safety. However, only Starksia species possess gonopodia (modified anal fins used as a copulatory organ).

The larvae, which are scaleless and often cirriless, are often misidentified as Blenniidae. The presence of more spines than rays in the dorsal fin of all labrisomids is an aid to identification. For the most part are generalized blennioids that do not fall within the limits of the other well-defined families; relationships within this family unknown and essentially unhypothesized based on morphological characters. Benthic inhabitants usually dwelling in holes and restricted to rocky, shelly, or coral reefs in shallow water, a few species in marine grass beds or sponges; a few species in deep water. Feed on small benthic invertebrates. Labrisomids have no commercial importance in FAO Area 31. They are, however, very abundant in certain localities and some of the larger species are caught, usually on hook-and-line, around jetties. They are edible, but rarely consumed.
