분포; 서태평양/일본 남부, 필리핀, 오스트레일리아, 솔로몬 제도에 분포.
일반개요; 트로피칼 스트라이프드 트리플핀은 네온 트리플핀(Neon Triplefin)이라고도 부른다. 인도-태평양 중부권 열대 아열대에 널리 분포한다. 몸은 가늘고 길며 단면은 다소 원통형이다. 입은 터미널 형이다. 체색은 적색이며 백색 선 무늬 3 개가 전체 몸 길이로 나있다. 배는 희다. 두 눈 사이에 백색 점들이 있다. 지느러미들은 투명하다. 눈이 크고 동공은 오렌지 황색이다. 아주 얕은 수심에서부터 30 미터 이내의 물살이 없는 장소에 있으며 산호 위나 단단한 바닥 위에 엎드려서 있다가 지나가는 동물 플랑크톤 먹이를 잡아먹는다. 알은 반구형이며 점착성의 실 넝쿨이 있어서 해조류나 둥지에 부착된다. 부화한 새끼는 얕은 물에서 플랑크톤 생활을 한다.

Distribution; Western Pacific/southern Japan to Philippines, Australia, and the Solomon Islands.
General; Tropical Striped Triplefin(or Neon Triplefin) is widespread throughout the tropical and subtropical waters of the central Indo-Pacific. The body is thin, more or less cylindrical section and relatively elongated, its mouth is terminal. The ventral side of this fish is whitish. The rest of its body is red with 3 white stripes running the length of its body and it has also white spots between the eyes. The fins are translucent. its eyes are relatively large and the iris is yellowish orange. This triplefin occurs in clear waters with moderate current from the surface down to 30 meters depth. It is normally found perched on coral or other hard surfaces where it watches for drifting food. They feed on zooplankton. Eggs are hemispherical and covered with numerous sticky threads that anchor them in the algae on the nesting sites. Larvae are planktonic which occur primarily in shallow, nearshore waters.
