분포; 서북태평양/한국의 동해안, 일본 북부, 오호츠크해에 분포.
일반개요; 몸은 길고 머리는 약간 아래 위로 납작하며 앞몸은 원통형이며 뒤로 갈수록 체고가 낮아지면서 측편되었다. 아래턱 밑에 융기선이 있다. 꼬리지느러미와 뒷지느러미는 완전히 연속되었고 꼬리지느러미 끝은 뾰족하게 끝난다. 머리를 제외한 몸 전체에 작은 비늘이 있다. 몸 색은 흑갈색이며 배쪽은 다소 밝으며 비늘 마다 흰 점이 있다. 먹갈치와 형태적으로 비슷하지만 가슴지느러미 뒤 가장자리가 안으로 패이지 않은 것이 크게 다른 점이다. 등지느러미와 뒷지느러미는 가시 기조는 없고 연조만 있다. 배지느러미는 1가시 2연조이지만 성장하면 흔적만 남는다. 심해성 어류이다.

Distribution; Northwest Pacific/Eastern coasts of Korea. northern Japan, and the southern Sea of Okhotsk.
General; Long body, fore body cylindrical, tapering narrow and compressed vertically towards caudalfin. Dorsal and anal fins long and continuous with caudal fin. Ridge presents beneath lower jaw. Small scales covered the body except the head. Body color is blackish brown, slightly bright ventrally. The appearance is similar to Lycodes nakamurae, but deferent in pectoral fin shape that is not concave.
