분포; 서북태평양: 한국의 동해와 남해(울릉도 포함), 일본, 사할린, 황해, 동중국해에 분포.
일반개요; 두 눈은 머리의 오른쪽에 몰려 있다. 입은 작고 입술이 두터우며 이는 무안측에만 발달되어 있다. 비늘은 작고 피부에 묻혀 있으며 눈 위에 비늘이 없다. 몸 표면에 점액질이 많은 편이다. 무안측은 희다. 몸은 옆으로 긴 직사각형 타입의 타원형이다. 수심 50~450m의 모래, 개펄 바닥에 서식한다. ※ slime: 점액으로 끈적끈적 함

Distribution: Eastern and southern Korea, East Sea, Yellow Sea, East China Sea, Central Japan northward, southern Kuril Islands and Sakhalin.
General: Eyes on right side of head. Small mouth with thick lips. Teeth on jaws developed only on blind side. Upper surfaces of eyeballs naked. Scales small imbedded under skin. Body profile elongate and rectangularly ovated shape. Body surface slimy. Inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms from 50~450m depth.
