분포; 청천강, 압록강, 중국의 만주 남서부에 국한되어 분포한다.
일반개요; 머리는 위 아래로 약간 납작하다. 몸의 앞 부분은 원통형이며 뒤로 갈수록 옆으로 측편되었다. 눈 주변의 감각관 시스템(sensory canal system)이 감소되었다. 있는 경우라도 1~2개가 짧게 있다. 전세개골의 감각관은 없다. 두정부의 비늘이 나선상으로 배열되어 있는 점에서 동일 속내의 다른 종들과 구분된다. 입이 매우 크고 입술이 두꺼우며 아래턱이 위턱보다 길다. 양 턱에는 작고 예리한 이빨이 뒤를 향하여 나았다. 등지느러미는 2개이며 분리되어 있다. 가슴지느러미 길이는 제2등지느러미의 기점을 지나지 않는다. 배지느러미는 가슴지느러미 아래에 있으며 빨판 모양을 갖지 않는다. 꼬리지느러미 뒤 가장자리는 둥글다. 몸색은 황갈색 바탕이며 어두운 갈색의 반문이 불규칙하게 번져있다. 각 지느러미에 검은 점들이 줄을 지어있다. 자갈 바닥에 살며 저서동물을 잡아먹는다. 생태에 관해 알려진 것이 거의 없다. 2014년 어류학자 채병수와 송호복씨가 압록강에서 채집하여 동종한 결과 “Odontobutis yaluensis” 로 밝혀졌다.

Distribution; Asia/Yalu river, Choeng-cheon river in North Korea and west southern region of Manchuria in China.
General; Head slightly depressed. Fore body cylindrical, compressed posteriorly. Oculoscapular sensory canal system reduced; when present, 1 or 2 short canals. Preopercular canals absent. Deferent from other congeners of same genus in that occipital scales spirally arranged. Mouth large, lips very thick, lower jaw longer than upper jaw. Small, sharp, and curved backward teeth on both jaws. With 2 separated dorsal fins. Length of pectoral fin not surpass the origin of second dorsal fin. Pelvic fins do not form sucker shape and located below pectoral fin. margin of caudal fin rounded. Body with brown ground color, irregular dark brown blotches scattered. Fins with rows of dark spots. Inhabit gravel bottoms. Feed on benthic animals. Ecological data deficient.
