꼬리치목 Order Ateleopodiformes(jellynose fishes)
꼬리지느러미가 축소되어 거의 없다시피 하며 뒷지느러미와 합쳐져 있다. 배지느러미 기조가 1개 뿐이며 목에 달려있다. 어릴 때는 기조가 더 많이 있다. Guentherus 속은 배지느러미 기조가 몇 개는 되며 가슴지느러미 뒤에 위치한다. 뼈대는 대체적으로 연골이다. 최대 2m. 꼬리치목에는 꼬리치과Ateleopodidae) 1과만 있다. 더 자세한 설명은 과에 있다.
