분포; 인도-태평양/남아프리카의 알리왈 쇼울에서부터 인도네시아, 파푸아뉴기니에 분포.
일반개요; 몸과 지느러미가 반투명하명 연산호(soft coral) 또는 바다조름 산호(seapen)에 붙어서 뛰어난 은폐 색으로 보이지 않는다. 몸의 수평열 비늘 수는 22-25개이며 눈 뒤 위치 목덜미에도 비늘이 있다. 아가미구멍은 커서 눈의 뒤 가장자리 아래까지 연장되어 있다. 다른 유사 종에 비해 체고는 높은 편이다. 연산호와 편리공생(자신은 이득이 있지만 숙주에게는 해도 없고 도움도 없는 공생관계)하며 보통 조류가 강한 암초지대 수심 20 미터 내외에서 발견된다. 주로 수지맨드라미 연산호에서 공생하는 것이 발견되며 연산호가 큰 경우에는 여러 마리가 붙어 산다. 사코파이튼 속(genus Sarcophyton) 연산호와 바다조름속(genus Pennatula) 산호와도 공생한다. 발견되는 수심 범위는 5-82 m이다.

Distribution; Indo-West Pacific/Aliwal Shoal, South Africa to Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
General; Characterized by semi-translucent body and fins, blends well with soft coral or seapen; nape usually scaled to behind eyes; longitudinal scale series 22-25; wide gill opening, reaching forward to below posterior edge of eye; relatively deep bodied, depth of body at anus 3.8-5.8 in SL. Commensal with soft corals, lives on Dendronephthya soft corals, usually at depth of 20 meters or more in areas subject to strong currents. Large corals may play host to several individuals. Also found with Sarcophyton soft corals and sea pens in 5-82 m. (※commensal organisms benefit from their association with a host, but there is no associated cost to the host, as there is in the case of parasitism).
