분포; 인도•태평양/필리핀, 마이크로네시아, 오스트렐리아 대보초, 파푸아 뉴기니, 인도네시아에 분포.
일반개요; 체측, 등지느러미, 꼬리지느러미, 가슴이 밝은 노랑색이며 체측에 수많은 청색 점들이 있다. 머리, 복부 몸의 후미, 가슴지느러미, 배지느러미는 암청색이며 그 가장자리의 대부분은 밝은 청색 테두리이다. 뒷지느러미와 몸 후미의 암청색 부위에는 옅은 청색 점들이 있다. 지느러미들의 가장자리가 좁게 밝은 청색이다. 산호 암초에 살며 유어와 성어의 모양은 완전히 다르다. 유어는 전체 흑색 바탕에 여러 개의 가는 청색 수직선들이 있다. 단독으로 다닐 때가 많다. 해면, 피낭동물을 먹는다. 흔하지 않아서 관상어 값이 매우 비싸다. ※ girdle: 허리띠, 코르셋

Distribution: Indo-Pacific/Philippines, Micronesia, Great Barrier Reef, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia.
General: Juveniles black with light blue curve vertical stripes on the sides. Adults are bright yellow on sides, back, dorsal, caudal fins and ventral portion of the head, with numerous blue spots on sides. Head, ventral portion of the body, pectoral and pelvic fins dark blue with numerous blue spots on the posterior portion of the anal fin and adjacent caudal peduncle area. Dark blue area edged with light blue streaks. Fins edged light blue. Coral rich area in 3~40m. Often solitary. Feeds on sponges and tunicates. Uncommon. Highly prized aquarium export.
